Should the tuckshop only sell healthy food?

Should the tuck shop only sell healthy food?

I think it would be a good idea to do so because that way we can decrease the amount of unhealthy food kids eat, but I also think that we should sell both that way we can have an option. Because if we only sell healthy food not that many people would come to the tuck shop. We should also have deals or something such as buy a healthy option and get a small bag of chips for free so that way we could encourage healthy eating.

I am mainly leaning towards the ‘we should’ side so we can help kids not develope a sweet tooth that way they have a lower chance of getting diabetes, heart disease and other kind of things. Buying healthy food is more expensive though, they put those things at a higher price because we need them more than chips and soda.

Research shows if you raise a child with good eating habits such as fruits and vegetables that they would be more healthy when they get older. Their eating habits might change over time adding a little bit of junk food but that would be fine since they are mainly eating healthy. Research also shows that the more healthy food you eat the more active your brain becomes, so this is a good reason considering we are in school. It also shows that it puts you in a better mood, this would also be a good reason because we would be more positive.

In conclusion I think we should have choices, buy healthy or unhealthy. I think it would be a good idea to make the healthy food cheaper so that students would save money and get something healthy to eat.

Good morning Shumaysah. Great job on keeping your blog up to date. This is an interesting topic and you have raised some really valid points. Teaching kids to understand that there are different types of food is probably more important than taking the unhealthy food completely away. I have linked you an interesting youtube clip about the different types of carbohydrates we often eat. Take a look it is really interesting. Ka pai
